Our Mission
Krieger Gaming is a Veteran & First Responder 501(c)(3) charity and online gaming community! One of the biggest factors in suicide is a feeling of isolation. We fight that by connecting people through the power of gaming! Connections save lives!
Why Gaming? Playing video games has numerous benefits for mental health. Video games can help relieve stress, help with the recovery from psychological trauma like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and most importantly help build and maintain social interactions [WebMD, 2024].
Whether we’re relaxing in the ship’s lounge after a long watch, winding down from a patrol on a forward operating base, or even just sitting on the couch at home after a long day; many Veterans & First Responders turn to video games for that escape. Additionally, Krieger (German for Warrior) has been a Veteran & First Responder Gaming Community since 2009. Over the years, we realized how important it is to be a part of a strong supportive community. We incorporated in November 2022 with the mission of using Gaming to do some real good.
We accomplish our mission through three primary objectives:
- Community
- Peer-Support
- Outreach
1. Community
Our community is primarily housed in a discord server with over a thousand veterans, military members, and like-minded people. We even have members from allied countries such as Canada and the United kingdom!
The discord community is one big, dysfunctional barracks family. We leave politics and divisive topics at the door, and focus on our shared experiences and purpose. Supporting each other through gaming!
2. peer-Support
Our dedication to each other doesn't stop at video games! Buddy Check is our in-house mental health peer-support program that gives anyone experiencing emotional or mental distress a outlet to vent or reach out for assistance!
Buddy Check manages a ticket system allowing peer-support volunteers to coordinate and provide resources, or talk via text or voice chat, with those who need it the most. Whatever you're going through, we've got your six!
3. outreach
We like to give back! Especially to those struggling! Krieger to date has donated dozens of games, Xbox consoles, and merchandise to the people and organizations who need them the most!
This includes Veteran Resource Centers at colleges, hospitals, military and first responder lounges, and individuals who would otherwise be unable to afford a gaming console or game!
